– The search for the 2007 Fort Bend County
Fair Queen has begun for young
ladies between the ages of 15 and 19 years. Contestants interested
in participating in this year’s competition have until August 26th
to sign up and compete for prizes
including scholarships and trophy buckles. Contestants must be
residents of Fort Bend County and participate in the pre-sales of
Fair entrance tickets as part of the competition. Contestants will
also be judged in personal activities, personality, appearance,
interview skills and fair participation.
Queen contestants will be highlighted in the Fort Bend County Fair
Style Show & Luncheon scheduled for 11:30 am on Saturday, September
15th at Safari Texas Ranch in Richmond. A panel of judges will score
contestants on showmanship, appearance, poise and interview skills
during the event. Contestants will receive professional wardrobe
consultation along with hair and make-up. Wardrobe for the event is
being provided by Something Beautiful of Katy, TNT Western Wear,
Macy’s and Ann Taylor. Hair and make-up is being provided by Nuance
Salon & Spa of Rosenberg. Volunteers organizing the event are Fort
Bend County Fair Director Elizabeth Duff-Drozd; Event Co-Chairs Amy
E. Urbanek and Pat Scholes; and Committee Members Louise Blair,
Joanne Crouch, Shannon Rerguson, Lucas Chavez, Judy Deats, Peggy
Jobes, Bambi Lynn, Sandy Scott and Mike Svatek.
Tickets to the Style Show & Luncheon are $35 and the event includes
a Trunk Show beginning at 10:30 a.m. featuring several unique
vendors and hand-passed mimosas for the guests. Proceeds from the
event benefit the Fort Bend County Fair, a non-profit organization
dedicated to benefiting youth, promoting agriculture and supporting
education. The event is open to the public and tickets are available
by contacting the Fair office at 281.342.6171.
“The Queen Competition is an
important part of the Fort Bend County Fair’s longstanding tradition
of supporting youth,” said Elizabeth Duff-Drozd, Fair Director
heading up the contest. “Working with these young ladies who
represent the values and mission of the Fort Bend County Fair is a
privilege and an important part of preserving the heritage of the
Fair in our community. We look forward to bringing this exciting
competition once again to our youth and encourage all eligible young
ladies to participate.”
Ladies interested in participating in the Fair Queen Contest must
attend a mandatory meeting on Sunday, August 26th at 2 p.m. at
Safari Texas Ranch located at 11627 FM 1464 in Richmond.
Contestants must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian and
complete a Registration Form
to enter the competition. Registration Forms will be available at
the meeting and both Contest Rules
