ROSENBERG
- One of the most popular community events at the Fort Bend County
Fair, Senior Citizen’s Day, is traditionally enjoyed by over 1,300
area seniors. The event, which begins at 8 am and ends at noon, has
been rescheduled this year for Monday, September 22nd, the Monday
before the Fair begins. Traditionally held the first Monday of the
Fair and outdoors in the arena, this year, the September 22nd Senior
Citizen’s Day will be held indoors in Building “C” on the
fairgrounds to provide a more comfortable, easily accessible
environment for the seniors.
“Relocating Senior Citizen’s Day to an indoor venue will provide a
much better experience for our seniors,” said William Carter, Fair
Director in charge of the Senior Citizen’s Day Committee. “Hosting
the event in the outdoor arena, we have been faced with many
concerns for our seniors regarding mobility, safety and access to
restrooms. With the enormous growth and popularity of the event, it
is our goal to ensure that our seniors have a wonderful time while
being safe and comfortable.”
By hosting the event indoors in Building “C”, seniors will be have
the opportunity to be dropped off at the front door of the building
for easier access. Additionally, the building is air conditioned
with enclosed rest room facilities providing a more comfortable
environment.
Senior Citizen’s Day features live entertainment, lunch and goodie
bags for the attending seniors. Admission is free and all area
seniors are invited to attend. Vendors and volunteers interested in
participating in the event can contact the Fort Bend County Fair
office at 281-342-6171, visit www.fbcfa.org or e-mail
info@fbcfa.org.
